Vicious Cycle

You know, I work hard all week looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. The weekend! It never fails however, that when I wake up on Saturday morning that the day is so jam packed with stuff to do that I am more tired from that one day compared to the whole work week. At least I have Sunday. Wrong! Sunday we are running around to see family, cleaning and trying to get ready for the upcoming work week! Does this vicious cycle ever end?

It's Time

It's time. You know....the time. When you look in the mirror and wonder how? How those line on the side of my mouth got there. You know the ones that create that jowls slash permanent frown expression. Then all it takes is 2 fingers on both sides of your eyes with a little outward lift motion...They DISAPPEAR!!! But see, no one let's you walk around holding your eyes and mumbling 23, 33, 23, 33. (you know...the 10 year age transformation span) Anyway I figure I'll just accept them and smile. BIG MISTAKE! Holy cow.....did you see those lines around the eyes when you smile. Really! Crows feet...and why do we call them that! Regroup, wear some big sunglasses, buy a strong drink (Starbucks or other), and then smile. Plus, when payday comes I'm buying some stronger cream! Hear that....Gift Givers.... for my way too close birthday I need Cream!

Sidenote: If drinking a happy drink (Starbucks or other) through a straw, jowls disappear!

Penis

That title made you come view my blog, didn't it? Well, I won't disappoint. This is a clean post all about the adventures of Toddler (just turned 3 year old) and his penis.

Toddler is on the couch counting to ten. Mind you he is naked because here in AZ it is so hot that he just strips done and runs free. He has one hand cupped over his penis.

Toddler: ...8, 9, 10. Ready or not here I come!
Me: What are you doing?
Toddler: Playing hide n' seek.
Me: With who?
Toddler: My Penis! See (he uncups his hand) I found him!

Toddler: Mom ! My penis is broke!
Me: Why? What do you think is wrong?
Toddler: It's laying down, Mommy.
Me: It's not broke, just sometimes it needs to sleep.
Toddler: Oh, goodnight penis!

Toddler was running around in his superman undies and I noticed something sticking out of the leg hole.
Me: Toddler, why is your penis sticking out of your undies?
Toddler: Oh Mom, he's just breathing.

Toddler: Mommy! (sobbing) I broke it. There is 2.
Me: Are you okay? Did you fall off the bed when you were jumping?
Toddler: There's 2! There's 2!
Me: There's 2 of what.
Toddler: (pointing to his testicles) 2 in there
Me: There has always been 2 in there.
Toddler: Oh, yeah! The more the merrier!

Now on to some bathroom humor.

Toddler: Mom, I have to pee.
me: okay ( hoist him up on the potty) when you're done, wash your hands and bring me your undies.
(3 minutes too late I walk in to check on him)
Me: Toddler, what are you doing?
Toddler: Painting you a picture.
There he was perfecting brush strokes on my wall with an extremely over saturated Q-Tip.
Me: Toddler, how did you get the Q-Tip so wet?
Toddler points to the toilet
Me: Eww, Honey that's pee-pee water. You didn't flush.
Toddler: I know Mom, I needed yellow to paint you a sun shiny day.

And that folks is the many so far adventures of Toddler and his penis..........

Left Behind

Left behind. I know it sounds horrible but I am so guilty when it comes to those words. I realize that I have had many great friends and family relationships in my life but then it happens...I leave them behind. Not on purpose, mind you, I simply run out of hours in the day. Old roommates, and best friends simply vanish into a drawer full of pictures. Most not forgotten. They live somewhere in my heart and pop up periodically in my mind. I wonder how I lost touch with them and if they even remember me. Quite honestly the people I talk to now are in the present time. Mostly colleagues at work, but as they move on or I change jobs will they be left behind too. It's funny because I can remember bonds so strong with people in my past that I was certain we would be close forever.....now they're forgotten. I keep track of people on my cell phone. When it breaks, they become forgotten. I am bad at inviting people out, or over. I am horrible when it comes to birthdays. I don't call people to check on them and if they don't call me they become the left behind. As I mature (I'm not getting older), I realize how I have missed out on some beautiful friendships. It's sad really, almost lonely. Hopefully it is not to late and I can reconnect to some of those precious friends and family. Now that my kids are more easily babysat I can once again enjoy friendly dinners with other guilt free. If you are reading this and I left you behind, I'm sorry. Hurry though my life is at a red light and I'm waiting for you to catch up.

Knock Knock

Knock, Knock!
Who's there?
Just me! Shut Up, I know!
Toddler and Daddy left on an impromptu camp trip overnight to visit my dad and Tween stayed at a friend's house. So let's recap this! No "mom, I have to pee!"; "Tween wash your face"; "Daddy snoring and bed hogging"; and no little visitors crawling into my bed tonight! This means no elbows in the face, getting kicked in the stomach and pushed out of the bed. ( I only have a queen sized bed...too small for us) Could this also mean.....dare I say it......I get to sleep in! Somebody pinch me! Oh wait, that's right...no one's here!

Have I mentioned that amid all this excitement I suddenly really miss my little kisses and the feeling of being needed? Oh wait I'm over it! I'll enjoy the break but relish in the blessing of having a family to call mine when they all return tomorrow afternoon.

Protect and Serve

Toddler looks like he may have already found his career path. Honor, protection and service; plus he would get to play with the siren and the lights. How cool is that!

New Commandment

Since God's busy I have volunteered to write some more much needed commandments.
Thou shall not sit upon a motorcycle looking like your 16 when your only 11!
AMEN!
Many more commandments to follow. Got one? Feel free to add!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Toddler!

Your party was fun but way too HOT! We served breakfast and had a bounce house. We also had fun with the Pinata and everyone left with there own bouncy ball to hop around on. Tween took a shot at Spongebob too!

Blessings in disguise

Sometimes I really try to see the blessing or lesson in each situation. There have been a lot of those this week. Want to hear about them? If not....tough! First blessing is Toddler is turning 3! A small celebration was planned. You know the quaint 5 kids 10 adults. Well 40 some more people later we have a party. Blessing here: We have friends and family to celebrate with. Second Blessing...We live in the desert! I mean 116 degrees before noon kind of hot! How are we to accommodate that many people for Toddler's big day? Easy, we are having a birthday breakfast at the park with a bounce house and the kids come in their jammies. Plus it's over by 10am so everyone can still have a full weekend. Blessing here: I don't shovel snow ever! And our winter wardrobe takes up very little room. Third blessing is I officially went back to work to set up the classroom. I already miss Toddler and he's right here. Blessing here: I have a job. Fourth blessing is we all have Dr.'s appointments next week that are full of shots. Blessing here: We have insurance and adequate health care to keep us healthy. Fifth blessing is school/work begins on the 10th of August but I don't get my first paycheck until September! Blessing here: I have an income. Sixth blessing, I was selfish and angered when a family member refused an invitation to Toddler's party and has basically refused to be part of Tweens and Toddlers' life. What hurts is I don't know why and Tween really "idolized" this person. Blessing here: My SIL let me vent and then we all met up at Applebees. It's good to have family! All of them! Seventh Blessing is Tween's mouth tends to say things quicker than her brain can register if it is appropriate or not. Blessing here: She's got opinions, is not mute, and I can still send her to her room and shut the door because we have a home. So what kind of disguises do your blessings wear?

BELLY RUB

My wonderful SIL was just here and dropped off her daughters for a little while. She is expecting a new little one in February. She's not showing in the least yet, but I had the overwhelming desire to greet my new little niece or nephew with a quick belly rub. I asked first and apologized for having to do it all in the same sentence. Why? Why, did I have that urge? I figure since I am approaching my 33rd birthday maybe it's my clock screaming at me. Maybe just knowing what that little bundle means to her I was sending my warm wishes and blessings in the belly rub. Whatever caused the urge, better a belly rub than a wedgie!
Back from Vegas and definitely not richer. I put $100 in a machine and after $30 in a matter of minutes I said forget it. I work way to hard for that. I stand up, a guy sits down, I start to talk to my sister(1 machine away) And within 5 minutes he wins $1,000. I could really use a lesson here....Like it would not have been you if you stayed. You did the right thing and see the value of money. Value! That grand had way more Value than my $70 I left with. Here's my lesson....God doesn't believe in luck, that is why I don't have any. (really, I don't) God believes in blessings and my life is full of those. Tween is doing well and Toddler is potty training.

no more butt nugget

So the "my brother is a butt nugget" post was erased when toddler began loving on his tween sister. I understand her frustration, and I know that he will help her develop tolerance for later in life. (and she's so stinking tan you can't see any bruises he may cause her) Fish boy toddler does this new floating under water bit. He stays completely motionless floating face down for over a minute. Each time I pluck him up he tells me "mom, I am just chillaxing". Chillaxing, really, this coming from the mouth of my babe? Well, please pray that we have a safe trip and please pray that my parents keep their serenity with my children while we are gone!

Viva Las Vegas

Quiver the lip and thrust that hip! Sing it with me now......Viva Las Vegas..(one more time for dramatic effect)....Viva Las Vegas!
Tomorrow I am off! A fun packed kid free vacation! I kinda don't know how to handle the kid free part, though. I look forward to sleeping in, however I will be missing my monkey hugs. Anyway enough estrogen talk, here is the plan. Phantom, Blueman Group, Le Reve, Tony and Tina's Wedding, and I believe we may be seeing.......Wait for it......Keith Urban! Can we all say Aussie eye candy. Have you seen that band of his?LOL (Lots of likes) HAHAHAHA. No worries, My hunky husband will be my chaperon, I mean escort. Not sure which # of those shows we will be attending I just know that I have coupons and discounts for all of them! (woo woo saving money)
Tween plans on posting today as well, and I will when I return! Hey Katie, you should renew in Vegas this weekend!

IT PHRASE

"Mom, I need a moment to process this in my blond mind." This is the new it phrase at our house, but let me back up and explain to you how it came about.
Yesterday, was the Demi Lavato and David Archuleta concert here. Tween's wanting and begging to go began a month out. I convinced her that it wasn't in our budget nor had she earned it. (She's a little mouthy like her mom and a spitfire like her dad.) What she didn't know is I already got 2 tickets for it. I contacted our friends who were also going and we managed to keep it secret from her. My friend and her daughter came to pick us up for dinner. I did tell her we were going out to dinner for some mother and daughter time. She was ecstatic to see that they were going with us. As I was getting into the car I asked Tween to hold some papers for me, they were the ticket print outs. She was clueless! She glanced at them, we stared at her. Quite amusing. Finally her friend held up a concert poster she made and told Tween to read it. It looked like she was going to cry! I asked if she was okay and if she understood what the papers were. That is when our new it phrase was born. She looked up quivering; and said,"Mom, I need a moment to process this in my blond mind."
I will be embroidering this on shirts real soon. Katie, yours is in the mail! LOL

A Fish Called Toddler

Many of you may not know this, heck I didn't even know until 2 days ago that I birthed a fish! Toddler is no normal child in the water...no no...he is a freaking fish. He has completely blown all of us away, including his swim instructor. He doesn't swim on the surface, he dives deep and swims to the sides after jumping in. No great feet you may think, until you watch him. He has this iron lung or gills. We can't believe how long he holds his breath! I finally asked the instructor how would I know if he was in distress. He said he would flap his arms out to the side. Next Monday I'll tape him and time him because we may have a new world record! So see, I birthed a fish with the head the size of an WHALE.

Ben and Jerry's

What do you call two pints of Ben and Jerry's, a bowl of popcorn, and hot Cheetos? I call it too many hours at a gym but Tween and her friend call it dessert. Ode to a youthful metabolism. They are watching Inkheart and Tween comments how old Brendan Frasier is. OLD! Am I old now too? Maybe I too need a pint of Ben and Jerry's to ease that ego blow.

Public Service Announcement

A warning to all! Please learn from our story so you can avoid possible serious injury. Tween, half frazzled from the excitement of spending the day at the water park with her BFF was not in an attentive state of mind. She had just returned from golfing with her father and was a little heat exhausted and common sense deprived. I had just grabbed by keys and pushed the garage door button. Tween WALKING in front of me WHILE TEXTING manages to face plant the rising garage door. I hear the house shake and see the garage door vibrating. Scared to look at her face and the damage that I pictured there I hear a little voice say "I'm okay mom." I then register what I thought was Tween wailing in pain was her actually laughing hysterically. She had managed to only make contact with the bottom weather strip on the garage door.

Lessons to be learned by all this: Don't walk while under the influence of texting... Don't text while walking through doors.... AND Lastly have a camera rolling at all times, because it was a total youtube moment.

Set in Stone

I would like to announce that my dear brother in law has given birth to some healthy baby kidney stones. Now that the ordeal has "passed" and he's okay, I only find it fitting that we name these little stoners. I feel that anything that can cause such pain should have a name announced upon it. I feel that Slate, Rose Quartz, and Rocco are appropriate though we are accepting suggestions.

ouch

I do not taste like chicken! I am not sweet like candy! No, that is not ketchup running off my hands and staining my khaki's. No my legs are not a kicking board and as far as my chest is concerned they are not pillows to head but. This all being said, "Yahoo only one more day of summer school!" I need a month off just to heal.

Sunday, June 21, 2009

oohhh pretty

Thanks to Tween for making the blog pretty. One more week of summer school then a month long break, and a 2 month paycheck break (ouch!!) You need to work nearly a month before the paycheck comes. Stupid system.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads. We saved Hallmark from bankruptcy this month and handed out the gift cards. I swear that between the price of cards and gift wrap you could go broke. I think for all my sisters birthdays I am going to give each an assortment of wrapping paper, gift bags and cards.
As for the yard sale....not that successful. I think I cleared $100.00. I also had a Scensy party to attend for a friend right after that. Don't worry Laura I will still order Gold Canyon from you. Well time to go and get the kiddos ready for tomorrow!

My little Athletes

What an exhausting week! I have been working the summer school program for special needs children and though it is rewarding to see their progress at the same time, I need a vacation! Tween and I are doing well together this summer. She takes golf lessons and is a natural powerhouse. She honestly has the potential to go far in the sport. Here is the dilemma: Her coach said she would be 10 times farther if she would just focus and take it a little more serious. In the same sentence he said that she enjoys the game and has fun. So, do we push her toward success only to hate it later or let her continue to have "fun" and lose the opportunity to debut the natural talent she has? Is there a middle ground?
Toddler is taking swimming lessons at my mom's pool. He has a great instructor that totally has engulfed his love of learning and sports. My nephew and toddler are both becoming little fish. I need to just get my nieces over for a refresher course.
We are having a garage sale this Saturday so I am trying to get "my crap, your treasures" together for that. The money I make from it goes to our Vegas fund. I received 3 comp nights at the Monte Carlo so I am off without the kiddos in July. We want to see Keith Urban and the blue man group. I am searching for deals there since we gave up credit cards. Off to make dinner.

Mom's Turn

My hope with this blog is to give "tween" a constructive outlet to develop and a suggestion board on how to deal...It takes a village after all. In defense of her brother, "toddler", he just loves her to pieces. His arrival when she was nearly nine ruptured her only child syndrome. Tough. FYI... I will be monitoring all posts and comments daily, so please keep them appropriate.
